Best Starters Tier List

The best starters tier list targets coaches who just finished the Coach a Fighter tutorial, redeemed Update1! and Release! on the Codes hub, and need a reliable first roster before burning Legend rerolls. LockLoaded’s Early Beta pool includes 250+ cards across Random, Real, and Legend rarities, but day-one success comes from training, not gacha luck.

This page ranks forgiving starter picks — mostly strong Random stat spreads and accessible Real identities — using the same Early Beta caveats as the Tier list hub. When you outgrow these picks, graduate to Best fighters tier list.

What makes a good starter?

Starter-tier fighters share traits that help before gym equipment maxes out:

  1. Balanced or high Stamina — survives long NPC bouts while you learn betting UI.
  2. Clear training path — one or two stats spike quickly on treadmill, punching bag, bench press, or pull-up bar.
  3. Low reroll dependence — wins after ~ten sessions without needing a Legend reroll immediately.
  4. Forgiving matchups — does not auto-lose common early NPC archetypes.

Starters are not permanent mains. They are learning tools that generate Cash for upgrades — see How to win matches and How to upgrade your gym.

S-tier starters — keep and train first

S-tier starters include Random cards that roll high Power with acceptable Stamina, or Real pulls from your first Real rerolls with defensive stat lines. Train these to the community ~ten session baseline before any Legend reroll:

  • Prioritize punching bag and treadmill if Power and Stamina lead.
  • Track progress on the Training planner.
  • Enter low-stakes NPC matches only after session six or seven.

If your tutorial Random already matches this profile, do not Real reroll until you hit a progression wall. Codes grant twenty Real rerolls across both active strings — hoard them for a weak slot, not an adequate starter.

A-tier starters — solid until first league push

A-tier starters excel in one stat lane but need backup planning:

  • Power-heavy Random with low Agility — great for early NPC rows; add an Agility counter later via Real reroll.
  • Stamina Real identities — slower to knock out foes but safe for learning bets.
  • Dexterity-focused Real — technical boxers that reward consistent bag sessions.

Pair A-tier starters with Build your roster role planning so you know which second fighter to train next.

B-tier starters — usable but reroll candidates

B-tier Random pulls win tutorial NPC fights yet stall when stats stay lopsided — all Power, no Endurance, for example. Finish tutorial training for free XP, then Real reroll the slot when you have a clearer role gap.

Do not Legend-reroll B-tier Random cards. Legend rerolls are scarce on Release! (one per claim) — save them for flagship mains per Legend fighters.

C-tier and D-tier — reroll immediately after tutorial

C-tier and D-tier starters lose NPC matches even with eight sessions because stat spreads fight the equipment you own. After How to redeem codes unlocks rerolls:

  1. Real reroll the slot once.
  2. Train the replacement ten sessions.
  3. Only then consider Legend reroll if the role still blocks league entry.

From starter to main roster

Typical progression path:

  1. Tutorial Random or Real — S or A tier starter, ten sessions.
  2. Second fighter — cover missing stat role using Real reroll if needed.
  3. First Legend reroll — after starter wins stabilize, chase flagship on Best fighters tier list.
  4. Gym upgrades — reinvest code Cash before third reroll impulse.

Early Beta disclaimer

Starter rankings assume current LockLoaded tuning. Patch notes on Updates can buff formerly weak stat spreads or nerf overperforming Random outliers. If your starter feels stronger than its tier letter, trust your results and keep training.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Coach a Fighter questions.

Should I reroll my tutorial fighter immediately?

Only if stat spreads are lopsided or you lose early NPC fights after several training sessions. Strong tutorial Randoms deserve ten sessions first.

Are Random fighters good starters?

Yes. Many Random cards with high Power and Stamina beat weak Real pulls until you invest Real rerolls from Update1! and Release!.

When should I use my first Legend reroll?

After your starter completes roughly ten sessions and you know which roster role needs a flagship — usually Power main or Stamina answer.

How many starters should I train at once?

Focus on one primary starter until ten sessions, then add a second fighter for role coverage. See Build your roster for squad targets.

Do starter tiers change after patches?

Yes during Early Beta. LockLoaded balance updates can shift which stat spreads feel strongest — check Updates after announcements.
